Keep up-to-date with your water
Wellington residents can now receive instant alerts about water outages and incidents in their area through a new text notification service.
The customer experience team at Wellington Water created the service which will notify residents about any water incidents that directly affect their location of interest.
“We want to make it as easy as possible for the public to know what is happening to their water services in a timely and convenient way,” said Manager of Customer Experience at Wellington Water, Ian Dennis.
“To help this we’ve developed a subscribe-by-text service which will push notifications about disruptions to people based on a specific geographic area that they have signed up for.”
Residents can register up to three physical addresses on their mobile phones, to receive real time notifications on outages, incidents, or ongoing work in those areas.
“We wanted to make it easier for people to get notifications for key locations in their day-to-day. For example, you may be interested in getting updates for work where your elderly parents’ live, or updates for the local area where your child’s school is,” Dennis said.
The service went live this morning (Monday 4 October).
To register text ‘Hello’ to 8090 and follow the prompts.
