Commencing October 2023, we will be working on improving the safety of manhole covers in stormwater and wastewater networks in the Upper Hutt City area on behalf of Hutt City Council.

The work will be taking place in the road reserve  as well as in some private properties.

It  will involve some initial investigations followed by installing safety grills to manholes to provide protection against falling into manholes in case the manhole cover becomes dislodged in a storm event.

The work will take place inside the manholes so will not require reinstatement.

However there will be some restricted parking and traffic management around the worksites.
