WASTEWATER LEAK - PROSSER STREET, TITAHI BAY
Wellington Water crews responding to a wastewater leak on Prosser Street, Titahi Bay

Our team have responded to a wastewater leak at the corner of Prosser Street and Titahi Bay Road.

Excavation is currently underway. The pump station is operating but will need to be shutdown before repair. Plans to divert the wastewater flow away from the pipe is being developed as the pipe will also need to be shutdown before repair.

There has been an earlier discharge into the stormwater network. This has now stopped with sucker trucks managing the flow, preventing wastewater entering the stormwater network. Signage has been placed at the outlets into the harbour and water quality sampling will be underway.

Traffic management has been set up on Titahi Bay Road. One southbound lane has been closed.

Garden watering restrictions are in place!

Garden watering restrictions are in place... yes really!

Q: How do you know when garden watering restrictions take effect in Wellington, Lower Hutt and Porirua?

A: It’s raining.

Well, it’s not quite that bad, but yes garden watering restrictions in these cities came into effect with Daylight Saving (24 September 2017). They’ll be in place until the end of Daylight Saving (01 April 2018), unless – we have an awesomely long hot summer and have to keep them in place for a bit longer.

Upper Hutt garden watering restrictions apply all year round.

The restrictions allow the use of one unattended garden watering system or sprinkler, between the hours of 6-8am and 7-9pm, on odd dates of the month (if you live at an odd-numbered street address) or even dates of the month (if you live at an even-numbered street address).

We advertise that the restrictions have kicked off, so that people know to do the right thing once the weather warms up – hopefully soon – and then we’ll increase the advertising to help us manage our summer water demand.
