Power cut affects water supply in South Wairarapa towns
Update 24 February
Thanks to the residents of Greytown and Featherston for conserving water yesterday after the power cut affected water supply.
South Wairarapa are experiencing a district wide power outage at the moment, with power expected to be back on by noon.
Reservoirs are at a reasonable level but it’s a good idea to conserve water where you can until we know the power is back.
Update 1.45pm
Power has successfully been restored, however the reservoir level is low.
We continue to urge residents of Greytown and Featherston to actively conserve water for the next 24 hours to ensure the reservoir can recover.
Update 23 February
Greytown and Featherston residents are being asked to minimise water use and delay their showers, laundry and other water use this morning until power is restored to a critical water pump.
Trees in lines are believed to have cut power to a main water pump that feeds the towns‘ reservoir.
Power is expected to be restored mid morning, but Wellington Water advises that the reservoir level is very low and is asking for people to minimise their use until midday.
